Another 18 months for Mars rovers. Keep on truckin' [The Register]
This to me is the brightest news story in this past year. A phenomenal success while, just today I heard from a co-worker that the main fuel tank on the Shuttle split open while they were moving it out to the Launch Facility for final assembly work. I tell you the unmanned scientific missions (even the billion dollar failed missions) have produced more science than the manned missions. And that Space Station will never EVER live up to it's potential. It's an Albatross hanging 'round our necks, strangling NASA. Congress is cutting their budget in an attempt to help balance out the deficits incurred from invading F'ing Iraq. I sometimes wonder what NASA could have done had we only kept it's funding constant through the Apollo missions and adjusted each year for inflation. I sometimes wonder how much easier it would have been to fund NASA if we hadn't invaded F'ing Vietnam. So much wasted talent and resources.
