A Woman's Right Not to be Operated On?
Melissa Ann Rowland, 28, has been charged with murder in Utah for
refusing a C-section and later having a stillborn baby. The state
apparently feels that she should not have the right to refuse an
operation if doctors think it is necessary to save the baby's life.
In fact, Melissa did have the C-section, but it was later than the date
the doctor's had insisted. Her birth included twins, a living baby girl
and a stillborn baby boy.
If a person feels that a woman does not have the right to choose
whether or not to have an abortion, then this is a logical next step.
If the state has the right to deny an operation to stop a pregnancy,
then the state may also have the right to DO AN OPERATION that it sees
is necessary.
This article was a real eye-opener for me. I hope that people who are
Pro-Life can see the connection between the forcing a woman to give
birth to forcing a woman to have an operation she doesn't want to have.
