It sure is good to be back home again
PDC is over and its great to be back home. Man, it feels just like yesterday that we were down in LA checking out the venue, visiting Universal and doing hotel visits.
In addition to being one of those guys helping with some of the logistics for the event I was part of a team of people amping community around the PDC. This included the PDC 2003 Community Environment (yes, we know lousy name). The goal for this application was to give folks easy access to news, session resources and newsgroups and to do so in a sexy smart client application. We learnt a lot about Windows Forms in the process and hopefully gave you a useful tool.
One side effect of working on a PDC is you get to know a lot of people from around the company. I still get a little star struck when I am around these folks, but seeing them up close and personal really was a thrill. Whenever I see people like this speak, I try and apply a bit of what they do to my talks. I am a newbie at presenting so I respect anyone who can get up in front of a large crowd like that and rock out like that.

Back to reality. On the homefront, life is slowly returning to normal, it is weird taking time off, sleeping in and just generally being around. Heck tomorrow I get to take my 4 year old to preschool. What a change from the in work by 7:30 am and home by x:00 am.
My wife's birthday present is slowly but surely taking shape. Here's the latest update photo of Jodie in action.
Jodie will be back again tomorrow so I'll put up more pictures then detailing progress. It is amazing to watch her paint. The colours come out at first so bold then watching here soften them up and then enhance the details. I've had to promise my wife not to do Bob Ross impersonations while Jodie paints. :-)
