Forget about C's at Yale -- Bush has now officially flunked out. The League of Conservation Voters handed President Bush a big red "F" on his annual environmental report card, down from last year's D-minus.
"George W. Bush is well on his way to compiling the worst environmental record in the history of our nation," said LCV director and disappointed teacher Deb Callahan. Bush's dad and other conservative presidents were no great shakes, but Callahan says Bush has "waged a subtler and more indirect campaign using deceptive rhetoric, arcane procedural methods and funding cuts to carry out an anti-environment, pro-corporate agenda."
Bush gets an "A" for effort... only for the wrong kind. Since he's come to office he's worked furiously to slash key environmental legislation, reversing the results of decades spent fighting to protect our natural resources, our green spaces and our public health. We think it's time for a word with George's parents.
