PIPA: Program on International Policy Attitudes

The Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) carries out research on public attitudes on international issues by conducting nationwide polls, focus groups and comprehensive reviews of polling conducted by other organizations.

PIPA is a joint program of the Center on Policy Attitudes (
COPA) and the Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland  (CISSM), School of Public Affairs, University of Maryland.

Don't believe the hype in the media.  I was pleasantly surprised.

Society for the Social History of Medicine

Since its inaugural meeting in 1970, the Society for the Social History of Medicine (SSHM) has pioneered inter-disciplinary approaches to the history of health, welfare, medical science and practice. Consequently, its membership consists of those interested in a variety of disciplines, including history, public health, demography, anthropology, sociology, social administration and health economics.

One of the world's greatest collections of books, manuscripts, pictures and films around the meaning and history of medicine, from the earliest times to the present day. We are freely open to the public without appointment and provide a wide range of enquiry services.

LHSA- Lothian Health Services Archive

To locate, collect, preserve and list all historically-important National Health Service and related records, and to promote and use them to increase awareness of the local history and traditions of health care in Edinburgh, the Lothian area, and in relation to Scotland generally.

The Lothian Health Services Archive primarily collects records of long term legal, administrative, epidemiological and historical value produced by the NHS within the Lothian area, including those of predecessor bodies.  In addition, non-NHS institutional records and personal papers related to the local history of health care and the history of Scottish medicine are also collected.
