Any road
I've been traveling on a wing and a prayer
By the skin of my teeth by the breadth of a hair
Traveling where the four winds blow
With the sun on my face - in the ice
and the snow
But oooeeee it's a game
Sometimes you're cool, sometimes
you're lame
Ah yeah it's somewhere
And if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there
But oh Lord we pay the price
With the spin of the wheel with the roll of
the dice
Ah yeah, you pay your fare
And if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there
I keep traveling around the bend
There was no beginning, there is no end
It wasn't born and never dies
There are no edges, there is no sides
Oh yeah, you just don't win
It's so far out - the way out is in
Bow to God and call him Sir
But if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there

The Botanics is a joy to walk through when returning to my car after work. This is what it looks like at the moment.

Bling bling
Nelly's jewels have been stolen. Not those, the distinctly sparkly variety. £588,000 worth. Oh dear. Don't worry pet, I am sure the insurance will take care of things. I wonder if he knows or cares where it comes from. How those lovely diamonds are virtually stolen from the Congolese people. Given his videos I imagine not.
Oh, and will someone close please inform R Kelly and Beyonce that middle eastern dance "belly dancing" and all that sand is in very poor taste given the current situation. The dance was originally done amongst women during the week long celebrations preceding a wedding. Typically, the older and/or already married ladies would pass on cool new moves and generally scare to the young bride to be as to what to expect. ;-)
Stick to the sleazy big limos and the Humvees and the nightclubs.

Reunion
Some friends of mine from grammar school are organising a 10th reunion next month. It surprised me how warm I felt when I received the email. It seemed instinctive that I would hate the thought of a school reunion. A lot of my friends (too many) live abroad now or in the South of England. Work shedules and the pitiful and mucho expensive public transport & cost of petrol means that Christmas is the main reunion time.
I love Christmas and must be one of the few people who don't particularly care when the shops put out their wares. It is difficult to get a decent Christmas card for my friend Liz, who's birthday is on Boxing Day but that's my only wee gripe. No one has to buy the stuff. And, at risk of sounding like an old fogey (too late) I knew that no meant no, at least when my mom said it.
I can only speak for myself but I don't feel the insecurities often associated with reunions. I hope no one else feels that way. These friends aren't those kind of friends. A 10th medical school (Gamma 2003) reunion? A different story entirely.
*shudder*
