Off to Maine

My SO is dragging my ass off to Maine for four days.  No internet connectivity.  Uggh!  And the weather forecast sucks.

Oh well.  I should be able to make a dent in some of the offline reading I been lugging around.

Hope to stay in Stonington and visit Isle of Haut.  I also want to scope out Camden as a potential venue for a high tech conference.  I heard that Bob Metcalfe (Mr. Ethernet) has hosted a couple events in the Camden area.

Dave's Thurs. Night Mtge at the Berkman Center

Another interesting meeting.  Spent most of the time discussing  plans to encourage the use of blogging in NH by real humans to influence the NH presidential primaries.

Met another batch of interesting people including:

1. a reporter from the Guardian newspaper of London

2.  the CEO (I think) of photo.net

3.  Andrew Gromit (spelled phonetically). A software contractor who works primarily with MIT's Sloan school of managment.

Mitch Kapor's Chandler Presentation at MIT

Kush gave me a heads up that Mitch Kapor was going to give a presentation on his "Chandler" OpenSource PIM project at MIT.

I attended.  Not much incremental info other than what you can get from the OSAF website.  Kush did ask an intelligent question about the apparent overlap between Kapor's Chandler effort and MIT's Haystack project.  Kapor admitted to some overlap and that he had a meeting planned the following day with MIT's Haystack team to discuss ways in which they might share ideas.

Dave Winer's Dinner Gathering at the Bombay Club

I spent another day at the Jupiter blog conference and then attended Dave Winer's gathering at the Bombay Club in Cambridge.  I finally got to meet Chris Lydon face to face and discussed the possibility of working together.  Chris wants to use a network of bloggers to feed information into a new radio program he is planning.

The Jupiter Weblog Conference.

I didn't intend to go but stumbled upon the Jupiter event which was buried in with a big medical/scientific conference at the Sheraton.  Heath Rowe provided an amazingly detailed confblog of the event.

By the time 7 pm rolled around, my mind was fried from overload at the conference so I skipped the Boston Bloggers event and headed back home.
