I love my Pogo RipFlash digital audio player and recorder
I've been looking for a decent audio player and recorder for sometime now and I think I've found one I finally can live with. It's the RipFlash Pro-2 from Pogo Products.
From the Pogo online brochure...
The RipFlash PRO-2 combines a fully featured 256-MEGABYTE MP3/WMA Player with the ability to directly record to the MP3 file format from any audio source using the Line-in connector or internal microphone. No PC Required! That's about 4 hours of MP3 or 8 hours of WMA playback capability.
It also has a digital FM radio receiver with a direct record feature so you can save your radio broadcasts. The RipFlash PRO-2 doubles as an advanced digital voice recorder with features like internal microphone and speaker, Voice Activation Detection, Multi-speed playback, and a whopping 110-hour record time capability (for voice quality recordings).
I ordered mine from Comp USA via Amazon for about $175 (including shipping). It came just as I was headed out the door for two meetings in Cambridge last Thurs. I threw the recorder and little manual in my pocket and jumped on the subway.
The damned thing worked. I was able to listen to my favorite FM station on the way to Cambridge and then record two back to back 90 minute meetings flawlessly *without* and external mic.
The only drawback on this device is that it's so small and light I just know it will wind up in the washing machine one of these days.
