Packing a Wallop? Here are some Wallop screen shots that have been floated. People are speculating on what the heck Wallop really is. I've even seen quasi-nervous comments from the blog community about how Microsoft was going to embrace and extend our little corner of the internet.

I don't buy it.

First of all, Wallop is a project from Microsoft Research, not (yet) part of any product. It takes Microsoft quite a while to get a product out, and never unless there's a proven, relatively obvious and near term revenue opportunity. Also, I suspect that the association with social technology, wikis and blogs is a late addition to a project that had been going on for a while. In other words, in a neat reversal, Microsoft Research seems to be trying to get some of Blogs 'cool' mojo to rub off on one of their projects.

BlogBridge sources available on SourceForge. This is exciting (for me.) BlogBridge is a new kind of blog aggregator that I've been working on for some months now, part time. It's not done, but I've now put all the sources up on sourceforge for your reading and building (if you are adventurous) pleasure. Also I've put together a web site for BlogBridge which I will be maintaining with news and other information about it as we progress. Send me your feedback; join as a developer; enjoy!
