Ads Aim to Convert Solo Commuters appears in today's Washington Post, Metro section:

"The federal government and area transportation agencies are spending $1 million on an advertising campaign urging commuters to use public transit, carpool or telecommute instead of driving alone to work.

Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments' Commuter Connections will manage the advertising, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation and transportation departments for Maryland, Virginia and the District. The goal of the effort is "to reduce traffic and air pollution by persuading 8,500 solo drivers to use other commuting methods by June 2005."
