George Eliot. "One must be poor to know the luxury of giving."

I just finished White Oleander.  I did really enjoy it.  This quote reminded me of it.  Sometimes you have to know what it's like to not have something to appreciate how good it is to have it.  Money.  Love.  Nice things. Friends. 

This time of year in particular I remember what it was like when the best presents my brother and I received were presents that some stranger gave us from a name they got off a tree at the bank.  Giving makes a difference.  It's nice to be able to do those things now.

Sometimes people just want to vent.  Sometimes I just want to vent.
