I got whiney about work for a while and now I'm working a lot and enjoying it more. Does it work that way? Probably to a point and then a decline down. I have been taking lots of notes during my project management course...just not taking them out of the car to bring in and type up and share. It's some interesting stuff though, I tell ya. One of my friends called me a true dork 'cause I was so excited about the last class. I must admit, I did almost always love school. The act of thinking. The conversation. And, being around other people with a common interest ain't so bad either.
The great thing about this course is that most of us do project management on a daily basis even if it's nowhere in our title or job description. So, during the classes I'm trying to really get the concepts for an eventual certification or career, but also thinking of how they can help me now. The first week we did scope and the last week we did scheduling. Really, I'll post some tips from each soon. Oh, and each week we have a different teacher so that'll be interesting to see. There was certainly a major difference between week 1 and week 2 for me. Week 1 I was yawning and exhausted the entire day. Week 2 the guy really got us involved and I stayed mentally active until the last half hour.
The funniest part so far: We had to do math (additional, multiplication) and the class really struggled. I graduated from a freaking math & science specialty school and I was like "hhmm, what was 6 x 7 again." Calculators make you forget it all.
Back to work for me.
