Photo stuff

Since I bought a P&S digital camera last year, I have been cultivating an interest in digital photography and cameras(and drooling over digital SLRs). Two recent events of note:

  1. Canon announced the availability of the Canon Rebel XT, an 8 megapixel redesign of the Canon Rebel that introduced the low(er) priced digital SLR trend a couple of years ago. It seems that it will occupy the price slot of the former Rebel with the older model continuing to be sold but for a much lower price (Canadian prices dropped $150 almost immediately).
  2. B&H Photovideo (a huge New York online and real store said to be the biggest camera retailer in the world) that I have been following with interest because of their low prices, huge selection and extensive online catalog suffered a serious fire at their Brooklyn warehouse. I am not sure what effect if any this will have on camera sales in general or how serious their business might be affected near or long term.

Also, I went to the Auto Show a few days ago (took a lot of pictures) and have posted a sampling of pictures at my MSN Photo blog.
