Concert for Joann
C. E. Welch asked his brother-in-law, Bob Criminger, to attend the
organ concert for Joann Grove Dilts in Denver on January 10, 2004. Bob
sent C. E. this report, which C. E. wanted to share with the class.
It was a very impressive and
beautiful concert. The organist was Dr. Joyce Shupe Kull and she was
marvelous. She has outstanding credentials and she is presently interim
Director of Music at Saint John's Cathedral. I am sending you the
program by separate mail.
I spoke with Steve Dilts after the
concert and told him that I was your representative and that you sent
your condolences. He was very appreciative and he introduced me to his
two sons (I think). I believe there were at least 300 people in
attendance and everyone appeared to enjoy the concert very much.
Steve spoke at the beginning and end
of the concert. He gave some background about himself and Joann: how
they met, how long they had been married, their children, and
how they happened to move to Denver in 1970.
Many thanks to Bob and C. E. for representing us on this sad occasion.
