Get Well, Bill Newman
In our sophomore year, Bill Newman and I were team mates in the SHS
Rifle Club. This little-known (and coed) group met for target-shooting
practice down in the bowels of the old YMCA on 7th Street, near the
Post Office. Bill made a career in aviation mechanics, chiefly for
Delta. I lost track of him until recently and was glad to see him at
his first '58 reunion last July, along with his good friend and our
classmate, Ed Weiskopf.
Bill has just gone through very difficult and painful prostate surgery.
He is now recovering at home in Arvada, CO. He is well enough to
receive and send e-mail notes, so please drop him a line when you have
time. On behalf of the class, I'm sending him best wishes for a speedy
recovery and a happy, healthy New Year.
