Annie Laura Webster

Tom Downs writes that he learned from his brother, Jack, that Miss Annie Laura Webster died at the age of 96 on Dec 8, 2003 in Springfield. She is remembered by many Harvard Park School alumni as their favorite teacher.

We will provide a link to the obituary text when one becomes available.

Miss Webster taught 4th grade. She took her students on field trips and read to them by candlelight from the "Little House" books. She had a kindly manner and a keen imagination.

You may read more about her in the Grade School Memories pages written by SHS classmates who attended Harvard Park.

Send Greetings to Springfield Friends

The following item appears in today's Journal-Register:

We've learned over the last few years that many people who like to think of Springfield as home, or at least home away from home, enjoy being able to send Christmas greetings to their friends and family who still live here.

It's time to do so again. If you are reading the SJ-R from afar, please send a holiday greeting back home today by emailing them to mike.matulis@sj-r.com.

Keep the message to 50 words or fewer. It's free, but we need your greetings by Dec. 22. The greetings will be published both in the printed newspaper and on sj-r.com Christmas morning.
