Physicists studying complexity theory call a sudden shift from one network structure to another a phase transition. Make a few small changes in the links between a few nodes, and suddenly the whole network structure is different. In his book The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell suggests that this effect can be seen in social networks – that everything from crime to fashion can been seen in terms of small changes that spread with great rapidity through the social network. The Minister may be trying to achieve some form of tipping point of his own with his network reviews, but as I have pointed out, I ain't ever going to vote for Labour under its current management. And I am trying to do my level best to convince all around me to follow suit. And if everyone against school closures does so as well, we may reach our own tipping point and save our schools! comments? [] 7:46:16 PM ![]() |
