But you can change...

I have just finished reading "What you can change and what you can't" By Martin Seligman. Not out of any great desire to change myself, but rather because another of his books has been recommended to me, but the local library only has this one title of his. So I thought that I would get a grip on his writing style to see if it was worth struggling to get the other.

The book has introduced me to two concepts that I particularly enjoy. The first is of "bad weather inside".  What a descriptive phrase!

The other concept is that our lives consist of two seasons: A "season of expansion" and a "season of contraction". The season of expansion starts, naturally at birth. And guess where middle aged people find themselves? Yes, between the two seasons. So if you are approaching middle age and you are not happy with yourself you really need to work on it! And if you are past middle age, ah well. You are who you are.
