Appearance is everything

My daughters are different. I mean really, really different. The school that they are at gives out an A4 page of maths based homework every Monday morning. By Friday morning they are expected to have finished it.

Tessa comes home on Monday afternoon, pulls out the page and does the homework. Unasked. Straight away. And in under 10 minutes. Then she is free to play for the rest of the week. I wish I was that organised.

Kylara ignores the homework. She is forced, kicking and screaming, to do it. She fights the homework with every ounce of her being. It takes days of battling to get it done. Parental authority is involved "Just do it! Now!" Bribery is used "You can't visit friends until your homework is done". Every trick in the book comes out to try and make sure that Kylara doesn't blacken the family  name and arrive at school on Friday morning with homework (*gasp*) undone.

Last week the teachers didn't have enough A4 paper. So they shrank the homework and used one A4 page to print 2 sheets on and then cut it down the middle. Kylara flew through the door on Monday. "The homework is so much less!" she shouted. She pulled it out and worked alongside Tessa. Kylara finished her homework with Tessa, in 10 minutes "That was much less work" she said afterword.

Yes, appearance is everything. But you knew that, didn't you?
