Judge Axes Streisand Coastal Privacy Suit
A Los Angeles judge ruled Dec. 3, 2003, that the free-speech rights of a photographer documenting California coastal erosion trumped invasion-of-privacy complaints filed by music and movie diva Barbra Streisand. Streisand had sued the operators of a project that publishes online aerial photos of California's entire coastline as a way of documenting erosion and other coastal conditions. The judge dismissed Streisand's suit under California's anti-SLAPP law, which aims at protecting 1st Amendment rights. Full Story.
