Lots of news coverage the last few days of Bush's authorization of covert surveillance of American citizens's telephone calls without a warrant, but it doesn't stop there. OK, get this... a student at UMass Dartmouth campus (not to be confused with Dartmouth College) tried to check out a copy of Mao's "Little Red Book"... and got visited at home by two agents of the Department of Homeland Security. He needed it for a class he's taking on fascism and totalitarianism.

Oh Congress... the executive branch is running out of control with both secret and overt surveillance of American citizens. Can we have a little oversight please? And oh by the way, that so-called Patriot Act that's up for renewal -- can you place a few more restrictions, checks and balances on the executive branch? Thanks, we'd all appreciate that.
