I saw in Andrew Bond's Industrial Automation Insider newsletter that new Invensys Process Systems CEO Paulette Eberhard is moving the headquarters from Foxboro to her home town of Dallas, Texas (home of EDS). I've received a couple of messages. This is true, and apparently they are not taking some long-time employees along. So, perhaps not an insignificant change as the old Foxboro process control company seems to be morphing into a services company. By the way, the trend has been to move to Houston to be close to process customers (Phoenix Conact has a new facility and Yokogawa established its process headquarters there). Dallas is a place I almost never visit and process control people will be lonely there. Andrew, in his own inimitable style, recalls that previous CEO Mike Caliel left the company in part because of the strain of the commute from Houston to Foxboro. Evidently, according to Andrew, he didn't think of moving the headquarters to him. I was talking with colleagues recently that once you could visit the Foxboro, MA area and see a huge chunk of the automation business. There's soon not to be much of a reason to visit anymore.

I've posted a podcast interview with Paul Wacker of Advantech. He offers some straightforward and noncommercial insights into Ethernet network architecture and management.
