Wikipedia's entry on "Wiki" tells me that "wiki" is a Hawaiian word meaning "quick". This article implies, but doesn't state outright, that that is the origin of the modern term indicating a website designed for collaborative modification.
Neither tells me if the Hawaiian word is a quasi-phonetic imitation of the English word "quick", in the same way that Ianuali means "January" and Pepeluali means "February". Probably not, but maybe.
