Thomas Kurian, Sr. VP for Oracle Application Server announced in his keynote at JavaOne that Oracle will build the reference implementation for EJB 3.0 persistence API. Oracle will become the co-lead of the EJB 3.0 specification. This EJB 3.0 Reference Implementation will be derived from Oracle TopLink and will be open sourced. This makes crystal clear that Hibernate is not EJB 3.0 Reference Implementation
