Willow play cabin for the gites

Some friends of ours (Stuart and Gabrielle) have created a new addition for the children's play area. A living willow play structure. The tunnel at the front leads into a 'tee-pee' type tent with a spiralling exit to the right. The willow will root itself, grow and the whole structure will get covered in foliage giving our gite guests a superb new hideaway to play in. I'm really pleased with the outcome and we are all looking forward to the spring to see the final result.

The testing staff are Elizabeth's friends from school at her Birthday party.

If you fancy building something similar in the UK, for courses, kits and willow rods, contact Steve Pickup of the Willow Bank through his website www.thewillowbank.com.

These are our experiences of running a gite business in Brittany, France. A gite is the French equivalent of a country holiday cottage. French culture, language, taxes and bureaucracy. Find out about our gites using the links on the LHS. This is our fourth season (2006) and we are looking forward to the summer. Stories about the road to this point will be added in due course. Renovation nightmares, builders, stress, schooling etc. Stay tuned.
