40 years old. [posted by Troy] Here's a lesson for all of us. If you make a time capsule that can last 18,000 years, don't hide it in a building that will only be around for 40 years. The contents of this time capsule look pretty much like a lot of the crap we throw away in our basements. Now, in 18,000 years this junk may have been worth something, but basically, there wasn't anything there you couldn't get at your local public library.

Islamic Holiday [posted by Troy] Being that a significant portion of our students where I work (maybe 8-12%?, just a guess) practice Islam, I've learned a great deal about the Muslim people over my five years of working. One of the most important holy times for Islam is approaching, Ramadam. With our countries recent focus on the Middle East more Christian-Americans are knowledgeable about Ramadan than in the past, but I thought that I'd share this Web site from Colorado State about Ramadan. (The Islamic calandar is based on the cycles of the moon, so the month of Ramadan cycles through the Western calendar. As you may know from previous posts, I find calendrics so very cool.)
