Simplified Internet Appliances Giovanni Cannata's Light Appliances concept is an unique attempt to bring internet services to those who lack a computer and the desire to own one. The system is built on a series of information appliances, each dedicated to a particular function. (Email, phone calls, radio, etc.) Using a one-button remote control called the "dropper", you can move pieces of information from one activated appliance to another. Light Appliances allows you to browse photos in a digital picture frame by caressing the frame's corner and to call the friend displayed in the photo by dragging and dropping the contact into a phone using the "dropper", or sending him a handwritten e-mail by dragging the contact into an e-mail appliance instead.Very cool. Predictably Puerile Pornstation Portable I suspect someone over at Playboy isn't totally retarded. First they make smut for the iPod, then they take special cheesecake and format it just for the PSP screen. The first two image galleries of images and video are free (that's how they get you (to masturbate)). SingStar = Secret Mac Sound Device Now that we're starting the Gizmodo Barber Shop Quartet¡XIntern Liam is a soprano¡Xwe need good gear. That's why I was so excited to see that you can use the SingStar, originally designed for the PS2, as a USB dual mic connector for GarageBand. David at the Apple Blog had a SingStar and must have been really bored so he plugged it in and OS X recognized it as two audio inputs. He's kind of like the first guy who tried a tomato back when they thought they were poisonous. USB Microphone Converter [The Apple Blog] - johnb (tips@gizmodo.com) [Gizmodo]1:56:54 PM |
Improvised Explosive Cell Phone - Up Close Jacob Appelbaum, a geek who is currently trekking in Iraq, posted this image of a roadside IED. The ringer is attached to the explosive trigger and the word on the street is that a GSM jammer would shut these things down pretty easily. We talked about this a few months ago, but this is an interesting close-up shot of one in the field. IED in Iraq [It's complicated via BoingBoing] - johnb (tips@gizmodo.com) [Gizmodo]1:55:54 PM |
MPIO-one Portable Flash Player MPEG-4 support is slowly but surely finding its way to flash audio players, whether or not they have a screen large enough to make it practical. One such player is the new "MPIO-one," equipped with a 1.04 inch OLED display capable of displaying 65,000 colors. Yeah, the colors are there, but the resolution isn't; you only get 96 x 64 dots. Maybe they'll start putting video outputs on these things to make them a little more feasible as MPEG-4 players? Apart from that, the MPIO-one is a run of the mill player with a maximum 1GB capacity.
