Medical Journals Weigh Plan for Full Drug-Trial Disclosure

Finally a plan to prevent pharmaceutical companies from reporting ONLY those studies which put a new drug in a favorable light -  medical journal editors attempting to stop deceptive pharmaceutical industry practices. Let's hope they prevail.

A.M.A. JOINS IN THE EFFORT - Urges Disclosure on Drug Trials

The nation's largest doctors' group, the American Medical Association, adopted a resolution yesterday that urges the federal government to create a database in which all clinical drug trials performed in this country would be registered at the outset of the trials.

The A.M.A. said it was taking the action because of concerns that drug industry sponsorship of such tests was affecting quality and because companies, as well as medical journals, tend to spotlight tests with positive findings, compared with those .
