I just checked my email and I got three messages in a row from different people saying RegExinator installs and runs, but doesn't do anything. My fault totally - I should have explained better how it works.

RegExinator works with the current editor window. Load up a text file/xml file/html file/whatever and key in the regex into RegExinator and click the run button. The matches are made based on the contents of the current code window.

So, go try that. There's another update coming later this week I hope, when I get over this crappy flu bug thing.

Sexy isn't it. It's the Cross Penabled Executive Pen, a Tablet PC stylus designed by legendary pen makers Cross. I heard it was coming out soon after Edenbrook supplied my Toshiba Tablet last year, but since it wasn't my PC in the first place I didn't really fancy spending any cash on it. Well, since then I've fell in love with Tablets and have my own one as well as the Edenbrook one, and so I bought the pen this week. It's fantastic. It's nice and heavy, feels like a real pen, and in writing feels like a wonderfully weighty felt-tip pen. I think if more hands-on demos set by Microsoft actually used these pens instead of the cheapo nasty plastic jobs that most Tablet manufacturers supply, they'd be a lot more take up of the Tablet.

As an aside, I ran up ArtRage today and did some drawing with the new pen just to see what it was like (ArtRage rules by the way, go download it), and I had a thought. In this country there's a small army of artists employed to draw sketches of major court cases. Wouldn't the Tablet PC with ArtRage just be fantastic for that? No more carrying tons of pens, pencils and papers into the courtroom, just a nice Motion slate loaded with ArtRage, and a Cross pen. Maybe that combo would revolutionise the world of the court room sketch artist in the same way that the digital camera did for the press photographer.

Yeah, the rumours are true. I'm back ;)

Seriously though, September 9th, if you are in or near Horsham, West Sussex, then stop by the regional VBUG meeting where I'll be doing something to do with Express and ADO.NET. It's going to be a corker. Of course, you need to let VBUG know that you are attending, since obviously with me topping the bill demand is going to be extremely high (yeah right).

Two weeks later and the venue is the square mile, City of London. I'm not speaking at that one but since Edenbrook are hosting the event I'll certainly be there, along with one or two other Edenbrook luminaries no doubt. So, come along. The talk (sorry can't remember the guy's name) is "So you think you know Visual Studio", which implies some great tricks and tips for old VS.NET hands, and apparently went down phenomenally well at another VBUG meeting earlier in the year. So get back to VBUG, and come along. Look forward to seeing you there.

(Drinks are definately in order I hope, following both meetings)

I hate it. I had a sore throat on Monday, that yesterday became a runny nose (runny in a Niagra sense), sore throat and a fuzzy head. Today, it's the flu. I have a bunch to do, but nothing got done. Aside from two hours this morning working through some Sharepoint issues I think this entire day goes down on the timesheet as Sickness.

I gotta say, aside from the fact that I feel utterly crap, it's bloody annoying. My role as Evangelist at Edenbrook is a new role and I'm so keen to really carve out a niche for myself in it, and to make it indispensible to the company and it's bottom line. Taking a day off ill, and spending the amount of time I've had to recently studying Sharepoint and getting up to speed on stuff rather than delivering great corporate and technology messages doesn't really help move me forwards towards my goals.

Blech.

I think I'll just lay back in bed for the remainder of the day and do some blogging.
