Not a site for the exchange of knitting machine programs, but rather a Microsoft hosted site that advocates the sharing of new, and information on old, patterns in software, and architecture.

Martin Fowler blogged about it here. You can find the actual patternshare site at www.patternshare.org.  This is going to be a great complementary site to Microsoft's own PAG group site.

I have some new sites to put up. Code Shapers is in need of it's own little place on the net, and I also have a plans for a fairly radical Tablet PC site to complement all the great work already being done by the Heiny clan, Rob Bushway, et al. So, that got me thinking about the blog. If I'm going to get a professional hosting package sorted out for the other two sites, and presumably move PeteWright.org there too, should I move the blog as well?

I guess the instigator of the latter thought is that I am now starting to blog more and more about my Tablet PC passion. I'm not sure though how to do that. Should I add a category here, or perhaps a new blog? Should I just say what the hey and drop a bunch of Tablet PC Evangelism and geek talk in this blog?

Decisions, decisions.

I missed this one, but the new Skype 1.1 is out. In case you've never heard about it before, Skype is a voice over IP package that basically lets you speak one on one with other Skype users over the net. You can even set up conference calls. The package is completely free, as is talking with other Skype users, but if you are willing to spend a little cash you can set up Skype to dial real phone numbers as well. At Christmas in fact we set up a Skype conference call between Heather, myself, her brother, her parents and her sister (on their land line, as they don't have Skype) and it worked great.

The new version is available for Windows (of course), Mac OS X, Linux and, amazingly, Pocket PC. There is also a Beta out there that I couldn't find that adds voicemail to the equation - can't wait to get my hands on that one.

Jeff Sandquist just posted a link  to a recording that George Norrie played on his show of a voice mail a guy left for his boss. The guy was apparently late for work and was calling in to explain when he witnessed a car crash. It's an hilarious recording, not in any way gruesome or disturbing (as car crashes can be). You have got to listen to it.
