First Florida gets hit by multiple hurricanes, then America gets hammered by record blizzads, and now England's got it. Where I live we've got it "weird".
Two mornings in a row now I've woken up to see snow everywhere with heavy clumps of it falling from the sky. We never get snow in this part of the country, a fact the BBC seems to have taken to heart since not one of their weather forecasts for my home town this week have said "Snow", even though it's definately here and weather.co.uk contradicts them daily. It's like the Steve Martin's weather man in L.A Story that just blindly says "Sun" all the time for L.A despite the massive rainstorm approaching.
The snow being in this part of the country though is definately not the weirdest thing. The weirdest thing is that I wake up to heavy snow that would make my life very hard both in terms of getting to the train station, and then getting to and from London (about 2 hours away door to door). Then, by early afternoon, it's gone. And then, by evening rush hour, it's back. For example despite having about 4 inches of the stuff on the road, the house, and my car about 5am this morning, with people trying in vain to slide down the hill near where I live, as I look out my office window right now everything is green. The sky though is clouding over and looking ominous as the evening rush hour approaches and I just know it's going to do it again, dumping masses of white stuff everywhere that will make me work from home once again.
So, what's going on? Any meterologists care to explain why the weather is crappy enough to make travel awful just around the two rush hours, but not the rest of the day?
Thank god my boss at my customer has been very understanding and said I can work from home. It's nice to be immunised from meetings for a couple of days - I'm getting so much done it's fantastic.
