More From Granada
Today's post will focus on the Albayzin, the old Moorish quarter of the city. With its narrow winding streets, it's easy to get lost there...which is just fine, because there's something amazing to see around every corner.

The Albayzin, taken from the viewpoint of the Alhambra. Notice that parts of the 11th century city fortification is still standing.

Just a short distance from our hotel, on the way to the Albayzin.

Detail of the steps on the way up.

There are many little shops along the way selling Arabic clothing, pottery, etc. A feast for the eyes.

Still climbing. Note the sign on the left advertising Arab baths. About 25 or 30 dollars will get you a relaxing soak in three pools of different temperatures (warm, then hot, then cool) followed by a massage.

The Arab baths - El Bano de la Mezquita.

Gate of what I believe is a monastery.

Walking by a bus stop. Believe me, you don't want to be in the way when the busses go rumbling by...there's only inches of clearance on either side, but that doesn't stop them from going like the wind.

Wall flowers.

The Mirador San Nicholas in the heart of the Albayzin, and the best place to view the Alhambra at night. We went back there at sunset - pure magic.

Approaching sunset.
