Dance and the Child I only realized yesterday that Iris leaves for Amsterdam this morning, and not tomorrow as I thought. Good thing she's on the ball! I'll run her to the airport, come home to finish my own packing, and head back to the airport a couple of hours later.
As for why she's off to Amsterdam, she and seven other dancers from here will be participating in the Dance and Child International Conference in La Hague. She'll be taking masterclasses, doing demonstrations and performances, and working with choreographers and about 1,000 other young dancers from all over the world. I'm so excited for her!
As for my own trip, it's just now starting to sink in that I'm actually going. We'll spend a few days in Madrid and then head down to Granada to take in the International Festival of Music and Dance. We have tickets to see, among others, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Ballet, a dance troupe of whirling dervishes from Istambul, and of course lots and lots of flamenco dancing. I am taking my own dancing shoes in case I have a chance to take some flamenco lessons.
After Granada I'm not sure where we'll end up. We'd like to take a run down to Morocco if we have time. We'll just see what we feel like doing once we're there. I won't have access to this blog while I'm away, but I'll post lots of pictures when I return.
Hasta luego!
