Louisiana governor pushes choices for elderly, disabled External Link

Kathleen Blanco vowed Thursday to provide a broader array of choices for the elderly and disabled who get long-term care through Medicaid, setting up a possible confrontation with the nursing home industry, which currently gets the lion's share of money spent on those services, the Times-Picayune reports....

Nursing home patients survive cut tubes External Link Posted: 09/24/2004 -- Someone slipped into the rooms of six patients at a Philadelphia nursing home and cut their feeding tubes, police said Thursday. None of the six was harmed, and the tubes were reinserted after the Wednesday morning discovery, the Associated Press reports....
