Barcelona Travel guide from Residencia Australia. La Rambla del Borne. This rambla can be considered the heart of the bohemian district of "el Borne", next to the main ramblas, full of nice bars and cafes to enjoy the Barcelona night. You would never guess that this rambla was before the grounds for medieval tournaments. At certain times of the year they would decorate this rambla with flowers and flags with the nobel´s emblems , build wooden seating arrangements so that the town´s folk could attend in mass numbers to witness the brave combats. The Montcada family was known for the bravery of their Knights, ( the museum Picasso is located on the street named after this family) who also fought along side Roger de Lauria in the crusades of the Holy Land. 9:44:57 PM    comment []

Barcelona Hostel fun tip of the day. Carnival is getting close , actually starting next week on the thirdof February A nice place to head onto is Sitges, about 30 km outside Barcelona. They have different parades on different nights. Sunday night´s parade , on the 6th, is my favourite day to enjoy the carnaval as there are fewer people and it is more of a town´s folk festival. The night to avoid is Saturday as there are no official activities and alcohol flows freely achieving, as always, the indesired social effects. Also if you are staying in barcelona you will have to get there by train(, renfe ) Once at Sitges station get ready for a police inspection of your belongings and on the following morning get ready for a very long wait until they let you on the train back to Barcelona. The carnaval is great fun and it could be worth the hassle. Just remember that for the train ride back you will have to observe proper decor or you will be kicked of the train.
