Podcasting Dope. . .

Darren Barefoot has posted an article titled "Why I'm Not Smoking the Podcasting Dope"

Now I'll be among the first to admit that to those of us who create podcasts, it's a rush.  It took me all of about 5 seconds to put together the connection that I could communicate in a higher bandwidth pipe and do it for free!  In my case, it took more time to figure out how to setup a blog that supported enclosures than it did to create and record the content.

After a while, like many podcasters, I came down from my initial high and started to look at the content I was creating, the message I was delivering and the process of podcasting.  Which is what, in my case, inspired the concept of the Manic Minute.  I figured that most people were like me in that I don't have the time to listen to tons of minutes but I do want to be entertained and receive interesting information.

So, to Darren I'd say, yes, there aren't enough hours in the day to listen to everyone, but the medium provides both a creative outlet and a higher-bandwidth way to communicate than a blog so I'll keep doing it.  In fact, I'm starting to do it as part of my job.

Podcast of the day:

How To Do Stuff

http://tmaffin.libsyn.com/

Tod Maffin's well produced and always entertaining podcast is a prime example of why I think podcasting has a bright future that's independent of so-called main-stream-media.  It's funny, it's very, very niche (how to wash your face, how to wear high heels), and it provides value.

Manic Minute Recommendation:  Can't wait for more!

And that's your Manic Minute for April 12th, 2005!
