The National Wildlife Federation's Schoolyard Habitats Program provides grants of $250 for educators and educational organizations interested in creating or revitalizing wildlife habitats on school grounds or on land near educational organizations. Prospective projects should reflect the goals of the Schoolyard Habitats Program, including the four components for wildlife: food, water, cover, and places to raise young. Educators at public and private schools and educational organizations throughout the U.S. are eligible to apply. The U.S. EPA has awarded grants to 12 universities to investigate the potential health and environmental impacts of nanomaterials which are unusually small synthetically-made particles that are measured in billionths of a meter (nanometers). In Florida's hot climate, researchers have found that a white reflective tile or metal roof can cut down on your space-cooling costs by 20 percent or more. Danny Parker, a researcher at the Florida Solar Energy Center who has been studying the effects of roofs on energy use for more than a decade, says that the higher cost of tile or metal roofs shouldn't scare people away from choosing them for their homes. London's famous diesel "black cabs" are now running cleaner and more economically thanks to the addition of Green Plus in their fuel. Biofriendly Corporation and its sister company in Europe, Green Plus Limited, announced that they have received a letter of endorsement from British Clean Fuels, a fuel company in London known for its service to taxis in London.
