Wi-Fi Wave 2
So, here's my prediction.
Early in 2006 we will see a lot of devices appearing with embedded wi-fi ( i know they are here already e.g. PSP, Nokia 9500 - but i mean in a real way ) - Mp3 Players, phones, cameras, handheld gaming devices - ( and the iPod at some point in 2006 ). This will usher in the 2nd wave of Wi-Fi, beyond laptop-email-checking etc.

This 2nd Wave will result in a lot of people showing up in hotspots looking to podcatch podcasts with their ipods, send photos to flickr from their phones/cameras, IM from their phones ( instead of texting ), Skype/VOIP from their Phones-iPods-Cameras-GameHandhelds-Watches.
This creates some interesting scenarios for Wi-Fi operators like our own Bitbuzz - most of these devices won't be able to use the traditional user/pass portal login, but will instead need some sort of registration/white-listing or embedded authentication mechanism. The operators who rise to these challenges and lead the way will win.

This 2nd Wave is going to increase Wi-Fi activity by an order of magnitude. Hold on to your surfboard, its gonna get rough.
