Dave Winer's recent podcast with Kosso discussed their ideas on making the distribution of podcasts easier by using an application to upload the .mp3 and create the RSS file.

I kept thinking that Radio Userland does a lot of this really well already. Normally you want to write a short blog entry to describe the podcast and Radio already allows you to enter the URL of an enclosure. To make the entire process more seamless, Radio needs the following:
  • A button which enables the prepared .mp3 to be be located by browsing to it.
  • Automatic upstreaming of the enclosure when the web log entry with enlosure is posted - probably to the "gems" folder.
  • Increasing the limits of the Radio servers so that sizeable podcasts can be handled. At the moment, the maximum size of upstreamed files is very small.
Radio is already a pretty good podcasting platform. It could be great with just a little more work.
