Show #63: Thanksgiving weekend and CR Avery
This Thanksgiving weekend podcast features two songs from the CR Avery Band who began their World Tour with an amazing show at the Solstice Cafe in Victoria on Friday. CR Avery for those of you who have not seen or heard him, combines the musical and theatrical stylings of Tom Waits, Lou Reed, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan with a beat box slam poetry foundation. His band and tour mates consist of Paul Surjadinata on bass, Noah Walker on guitar and David "Doc" Herbert on drums. If you like the music you hear in the podcast, you can order their CD from the link above, or catch them on their world tour at the dates listed in their web site.
In this podcast I also talk about some of Douglas Coupland's work and read a short excerpt from his latest novel J-Pod accompanied by an ambient sound bed called "Top of the Hill" from Spheric Lounge.
