Book of Lost Things

I like fantasy and books that are just a bit different. The Book of Lost Things certainly fits the bill. It takes place during the air raids of London. David's mother has recently died and his father has taken up with one of her nurses. When the air raids get bad, his father decides to marry the nurse and move to her house in the country with David. David isn't sure he is keen on the move, and with a new baby he feels a bit left out. He has a seizure, and afterwards starts hearing books talk to him. He also sees a crooked little man. One night, a plane is shot down over their house. David has been intrigued by a little sunken garden and is in the garden when the plane crashes. He escapes the burning wreckage by climbing through a hole in the garden wall. He finds himself in a strange forest. A woodsman is there, and helps David escape from some half wolves/half humans. This place is like a bad fairy tale. The stories the woodsman tells start out like the fairy tales we know, but have a strange twist to them...and are more than just tales. The characters actually live in this new land. How will David survive and get home? Who can help him and who is dangerous? Why is he here? Read the book and find out!
