Learn From History!!!
China killed hundreds of students in the Tiananmen Square Massacre. Our
Hong Kong leaders tell us to please "put things in perspective". Since
that time China's economy has grown dramatically, raising millions out
of poverty. This, according to our leaders, somehow justifies the
events of 1989. By what logic are they connected? How does mowing down
innocent students promote stability and prosperity? Who can say that
listening to the students, whose complaints were mostly related to
corruption, would have lead to instability? The assumptions in
this line of logic are twisted and flimsey. No one knows what the
future would have been like, had the government acted humanely. This
weak "the ends justifies the means" argument is illogical and immoral.
