See my update of this evening to the New York Times article on Title IX and the sciences post (the update starts about a third of the way down in the link). For some reason, out of the dozens of comments left on PhysioProf's post, a member of the privileged patriarchy felt my comments (and my subsequent blog piece) were dangerous enough to warrant special consideration. Why is a downtrodden female ex-physicist dangerous to his privileged status? Well, I guess because I am a downtrodden female ex-physicist...and I talk about it. If women like me would just shut up about our experiences, and how application of Title IX would have made our lives a lot less nightmare-ish, it would be so much easier to pretend we don't exist and then all their "truths" about why there are so few women in the sciences, and why Title IX is a "bad law" might seem plausible.
I note in his commentary on my post, he described me as someone that members of his ilk are "up against", as if I have some kind of amazing supernatural power to rock their little world. Oh my god! run for the hills guys, it is a woman who is actually talking! Women aren't supposed to do that, unless they agree with us! And sometimes she doesn't even talk nice! It is so scary! Make her go away! What are we going to do??? Boo hoo!
Squirt me some tears, bunch of cry babies. Your stance is pretty pathetic if you feel threatened by my mere existence.
