Norman Mineta
Norman Mineta, Secretary of Transportation, spoke at Commonwealth North lunch today. There was a small group of Government Hill neighborhood protestors outside the east door of the Captain Cook. One was being interview by the news media. He might have been on TV this evening. I already knew Daughter wasn't there. I had just stopped by her place of employ and had a short visit with her afrter mailing a letter at the 'magic mail box'.
The lunch crowd was small but plenty of big wigs were in attendance---four generals that had served up here at one time or another. You can tell it is fishing season in Alaska. There were a bunch Secret Service types (4 or 5 obvious ones) around. Surely the Government Hill contingent didn't stir things up that much. I have never see that before in the 22 years of going to Commonwealth North. Afterwards, when I left, there was a media-type w/camera across the street trained on the main door and the big black limo. It seems as though that was a bit much for Mineta---I wonder who else was there. Daughter should have been there; she is so good at sightings.
