I have a couple of appearances coming up. Tomorrow I'm leaving for Las Vegas and the Schneider Electric customer conference. For all of you PR people out there, I'm part of an interesting experiment. Schneider (known best in the US as Square D) is primarily an electrical distribution supplier and is deeply into electrical energy savings products and services. They were concerned about how magazines cover energy savings -- or even if they even did. So, they decided to put together a panel of editors to talk about ways to cover that topic--and asked me to participate. I said yes before I knew what was up. This is now supposed to be a free-flowing discussion on the topic with a panel of editors and Schneider people and an audience of editors and Schneider people. I'll let you know how it goes.
The ISA Sales and Marketing Summit will be September 17-19 at the Wyndham in Cleveland. This is targeted to marketers in the automation industry to help them upgrade their knowledge and skills. I decided to submit a proposal for a talk--which was accepted. I thought Walt was my friend, but my presentation is in the last time slot of the day on Sept. 18, and it is the only time slot with three choices instead of two. Plus, I'm up against Siemens' Catherine Derkosh, who is speaking on "Bring Back That Loving Feeling" (I can hear the Righteous Brothers now). I'd go to that session if I weren't speaking. Sorry Catherine. I'm speaking on using new Web technologies to initiate a conversation with your customers and prospects versus the "talking at them" strategy that most use.
