Well, now I'm off to grandpa's house. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas. I just talked to Dave and his dad is doing better. That's really great to hear. Hope everyone is having a good Christmas. I know a lot of people who aren't, though, and my heart goes out to you all.
I can't wait until folks start doing comparative reviews of the NEC Tablet to everyone else. I would do the reviews, but I'm biased, so you shouldn't believe what I say anyway. It will measure up well, though. Things that'll be interesting to talk about: size, weight, feature set, battery life, aesthetics, inking "feel." I'm sure there are more too.
Yesterday we went to Berkeley yesterday and, suprise, people were smoking pot on Telegraph Ave. What a wacky Christmas! We went to Skates, a restaurant on the edge of the bay (views are highly recommended) and I pulled out the Tablet. Crud, no 802.11. But the waitress was very interested. "What is that?" "I've never seen a computer that looked like that." "You mean you can write on it?" I took some photos of the view outside the restaurant, stuck my Compact Flash card in my Tablet, and showed her the pictures. "Cool," she said.
Merry Christmas Dave. Hope your dad is doing OK. I'll be joining you in New York in just a couple of days. I can't wait. I hope it snows too! I want a white New Years!
So, while my son plays with his pile of Star Wars toys, I'm trying to learn the Tablet. I have a few of the major software packages already loaded. Things like Franklin Covey's Tablet Planner and the Office XP Tablet Pack. Lots of goodies to learn and review over the next few months. By the way, why do people still use frames on their Web sites? (The TabletPC2 site does). They suck cause I can't point people to them and get the full experience.
Today I changed the name of my 802.11 access point to my home address. Why? Cause, I want my neighbors to know who they are getting wireless from. I live less than a mile from Cisco's headquarters. Who knows the geeks who are my neighbors? You know, 802.11 is really important if you get a Tablet. Why? Because it's a computer you can use while standing up (or riding a Segway). I'm starting to warchalk now.
You might ask why I haven't published pictures of the Tablet. Well, that's cause I was asked not to.
Merry Christmas Tablet Fans
