Damn, it says my feed is not funky.
Well, I'm off to work. My son and dad come today, so posting will be light for a while. With that, I leave you my favorite thing off of the Slashdot thread -- the Microsoft Evangelist's prayer:
Our father, who art in Redmond
Microsoft be thy name
Thy monopoly come, thy will be done
throughout the earth as it is in the US.
Give us this day, our daily license activation key
And forgive us our bug reports
as we forgive our system crashes
And lead us not into competition
But deliver us from innovation
For thine is the Control, and the Power and the Greed
Forever. Amen.
Heh, who said we can't laugh at ourselves? (said while polishing up my Steve Ballmer shrine).
Some Tablet PC news this morning.
1) Looks like the real estate industry is starting to pick up on the Tablet PC. These kinds of vertical-market apps are exactly where the Tablet shines.
2) The Leszynski group is doing Tablet training for developers. This is the company that wrote many of the apps that come with the Tablet, so I can't imagine a better source of information for developers.
3) HP just introduced QuickLook for its Tablet PC. I wish this were available for other manufacturers too since it looks like it's useful.
Anil John: "It is now time to get the word out [that Microsoft has learned its security lessons well]."
Along these lines, Chrisian Nagel points to a Windows Server 2003 vs. IBM WebSphere security evaluation.
You know, in my travels as a weblogger around Google, sometimes I just find some weird stuff. The "Afrotech mods" website is definitely in that category.
His "Sound Controlled Vibrator" page is a hoot.
This reminds me of being in my parents garage when my brothers and I would build weird stuff out of all the Silicon Valley junk my dad would bring home from work and other places.
Heh, did you realize that if you plug a capacitor into an outlet it'll explode? Don't ask me how I learned that. And, no, definitely don't try that at home. Sometimes I realize I'm simply lucky to be here.
A new MSN Messenger is getting released today. Here's the official press release. This is a BIG deal. I can't wait for you to try it with me. I'm at robertscoble@hotmail.com. I've been using this release for a few weeks and it's freaking freaking freaking awesome. Hey, is that enough freakings? I have an ulterior motive -- if you all upgrade, I can use ink with you and show off some of my tablet's cool features.
You know, my weblog's value comes from my readers. Ken just posted this comment about a cool app he wrote for his PocketPC that lets him check Seattle's traffic.
Oh, and John Ludwig says that he loves PreClick because of its speed. I note that it is awesomely small too -- less than 1MB. It's amazing to see when devs take the time to craft something so it fits on a floppy.
Oh, this is cool. Folks are using cell phones to create "flash mobs" in New York. Heh, wouldn't it freak out the Microsoft execs if we all just met at building 34 every Friday, stood around the building using our Tablets for 15 minutes at noon to 12:15, and then disbanded? Oh, I love that kind of weirdness.
