Yesterday I wrote about Google's [non existent] RSS strategy, today another internet publishing authority shows there's still lots left to learn.
Slashdot may be the haven of all things good for geeks, but you still need to understand how to speak with your audience. Even weblogs and news aggregators trolling endlessly for RSS news have to be a part of any organizations' communication policy. Including slashdot.
I took a screenshot of this morning's slashdot listing in my aggregator. A selection of words:
- Your Headline Reader Has Been Banned . Your RSS reader is abusing the Slashdot server.
- Do Not Bother Contacting Us For 72 Hours .
- You May Only Load Headlines Every 30 Minutes
What a wasted opportunity! Instead of congratulating me on my eagerness to devour information, I am punished! Did it ever occur to any of the eL33t hax0rs at [/.] that I might be willing to PAY for frequent access?
Geeks, nerd, programmers and developers often complain they feel misunderstood in corporate and other social circles. It flows both ways guys.

Studies by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggest that, unlike most respiratory viruses medicine knows, the microbe behind SARS can survive up to 24 hours on inanimate objects, turning any surface into a possible point of transmission."
