The Dean for America weblog keeps grabbing my attention when new posts roll by in my aggregator: "Rob Reiner casts his vote today for Howard Dean in the MoveOn primary."

I never received your mail Dave, but that's ok because your post showed up on my radar only a day after you wrote it :) F*ck email, who needs it. Anyway, I understand now what the problems with RSS are. If we really do see incompatible formats maketed as competitive products, I'd suspect a booming business in translation web-services, mapping one format to another.
Why hasn't that happened more for Word docs? Like Open Office and Star Office?
Is Don's BetaMax analogy a good example of a possible outcome of 'format wars'?
Additionally, if unresolved, this will result in a tremendous loss of revenue opportunity for developers of aggregators, who will soon accept payments from information providers for placing their feeds as default subscriptions in their products. Popular feeds will dictate formats. Popular feed's formats will be supported more.
Case in point, teh BBC's feeds are RSS!

Bene trying out iChatAV with Patricia and Marcus (in LA). Unbelievable! I've tried out just about every iPhone type application, but none come even close too this. From what I understand it uses the GSM codec, meaning very little bandwidth usage with digital cellphone quality. Full duplex is enabled through your built in speakers and microphone, no hgeadset required and it works without the audio feedback usually associated with netPhone software. Now if Only I can find more 'buddies' with a cam... Unfortunately you can't receive video if you don't have one attached. So much for pr0n lurkers :)
