Drivel:  I am finally going to make the big switch from a PC to a Mac.  My laptop crashed yesterday and I lost a full day worth of work on a client deliverable that was due yesterday.  My laptop has a hardware design flaw in that there isn't enough airspace around the CPU, which causes it to cut out sporadically.  I can and have lived with this for a while.  What sent me over the edge was the compounded problem with Windows and Visio.  When my machine cut out, the file became corrupt.  Luckily I had uploaded a version of the file to the project web site the night before and was able to start where I left off yesterday morning.  I am doing more graphically intense things these days and PC laptops just are not getting good user reviews these days.  Every laptop on the market seems to be plague by one peculiarity or another that makes work near to impossible at times.  I can't afford this any more.  My friends and colleagues have nothing but good thing to say about the G4 Powerbooks, so that's were I am headed -- the Promised Land.  Before I actually shell out the money, I am walking through my migration process on an iBook I have on loan from a client.  I have already downloaded and tested Microsoft Office v. X for Mac.  Next on the list is Virtual PC, so I can run Windows apps like Visio.  I will write a full story on my ìbig switchî and post it here.  I am off to the Apple store in Cambridge!!  3:13:08 PM   comments ()
